Marshall Funk – CEOvCard
Marshall Funk began his career with his father’s company at the age of 10 with a primary duty of removing nails from salvaged lumber.
He was appointed vice president during the 1970’s and became chief executive officer in the early 1990’s when his father Joe Funk retired. Mr. Funk’s current duties include managing the firm’s current and long term goals and overseeing all company affairs.
Mr. Funk earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Southern Methodist University May 1971.
Rusty Norris – PresidentvCard
Rusty Norris joined Joe Funk Construction in 1978 to serve as a project engineer responsible for building layout, reviewing submittals, assisting the project superintendent, and working with subcontractors. He was appointed as a project manager and estimator from 1980 through 1986, and again from 1994 through 1999, and was appointed project superintendent from 1987 through 1993. Mr. Norris served as Vice President from 2000 until 2004, responsible for construction operations and estimating, until being appointed executive vice president in 2004 through 2010. In 2011 he was appointed to his current position of President.
Mr. Norris earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Building Construction from Texas A&M University in 1978.
Glenn Sefton – Vice PresidentvCard
Glenn Sefton joined Joe Funk Construction in 1981. He began his career in construction working summers throughout high school with Steel City Industries in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, his father’s construction company. Working with his father he learned how to construct metal buildings, primarily in industrial parks owned and leased by his father. Mr. Sefton is certified as a construction safety specialist with TEXO Dallas, retains Green Advantage Environmental Certification and Excavation and Trench Shoring Competent Person Certification. He is a member of the Association of General Contractors in Dallas, and the Texas Society of General Contractors.
Mr. Sefton earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas in 1983.
Aaron Albright – Client Relations DirectorvCard
Aaron Albright officially joined Joe Funk Construction and began his career in construction in 2013. His role with Joe Funk Construction is business development, participating in strategic planning, and maintaining relationships with past and present clients.
Mr. Albright earned a bachelor of science in Environmental Studies and Biology in 2006 from Eckerd College, and went on to obtain a master’s degree in Environmental Management from Texas Christian University in 2013. He will be entering the University of Texas, Dallas for the Executive Master of Business Administration in the fall of 2015.
Mark Stafford – Project ManagervCard
Mark Stafford joined Joe Funk Construction in 1980 as a project manager with a love for seeing concept projects brought to life through construction.
Mr. Stafford earned his bachelor of science in Construction Technology in 1980 from Indiana State University. He holds certification for both project manager and for Auto CAD.
Tab Wilhelm – Construction Associate/Business OperationsvCard
Tab Wilhelm joined Joe Funk Construction in 2004. He earned his bachelor of Business Administration in 2002 from Stephen F. Austin State University.
Charles Nickson – Chief EstimatorvCard
Charles Nickson joined Joe Funk Construction in March 2015.
He began his career as an environmental engineer with United Gas Pipeline in Lafayette, LA. He enjoys a challenging project and in seeing it grow from the ground up.
Mr. Nickson brings extensive experience in estimating, with a thorough understanding of the industry climate, and extensive relationships with industry contacts to Joe Funk Construction.
Mr. Nickson earned his bachelor of science in Civil Engineering in 1990 from Prairie View A&M University. His postgraduate studies include Community Minority Business Advancement Program from the McComb School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin; AGC Dallas Leadership Executive Training; Certificate of Achievement in Certified for On-Screen Takeoff from On Center Software.
Roberto Ortiz – Superintendent
Roberto Ortiz joined Joe Funk Construction in Fall 2014 and serves in the position of project superintendent. His career in the industry began at the age of 16 with his father and uncle’s construction company in Puerto Rico. In 1999 he was appointed the position of project supervisor for PC Group in Barcelona, Puerto Rico.
Mr. Ortiz-Emmanuelli earned his bachelor degree in Science of Civil Engineering in May 2013 from the Caribbean University of Puerto Rico.
Rolando Figueroa – Superintendent
Rolando Figueroa joined Joe Funk Construction in Fall 2014 in the role of project superintendent. Mr. Figueroa began in the industry as a Field Engineer for Kiewit Peter Sons’ Inc., in Puerto Rico where he served not only as an engineer, but also provided hands on participation in all aspects including the operation of heavy equipment. He was later appointed as the Fabrication Yard Superintendent, and finally served as Construction & Finishes Superintendent.
Mr. Figueroa earned his bachelor degree in Civil Engineering in Summer 1997, and a Master’s Degree in Engineering Management in May 1999. Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico for both.
Julio Beard Pena – Superintendent
Julio Beard Pena joined Joe Funk Construction in Fall 2014 as project superintendent. He began his career in the industry with Robert S. Prann in 1998 in Puerto Rico.
Mr. Pena earned a bachelor degree in Civil Engineering in 1998, and a Master Degree in Engineering Management in 2000 from the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico. Additional certifications include Construction Safety & Health, OSHA and OSHA 3015 – Excavation, Trench & Soil Mechanics.
Paul Armstrong – Superintendent
Paul Armstrong joined Joe Funk Construction in 2015 in the position of Superintendent. He previously operated his own construction firm specializing in the construction of medical facilities.
Mr. Armstrong started in the industry in 1970 providing residential remodeling projects, and received his training with the United States Air Force. He certified with the OSHA Hazard Recognition.
Deborah Stafford – Administrative Executive
Deborah Stafford joined Joe Funk Construction in 1994 managing office operations and providing property management for the commercial and industrial property owned by the Joe Funk Family. With a background in sociology, journalism and office operations, Ms. Stafford provides the cohesion within the office that maintains the fluid operations and communications of an effectively managed office environment.
