Diversity and Inclusion

Promoting diversity and inclusion is a company-wide commitment at Joe Funk Construction which is reflected in our employees, our clients and the subcontractors and vendors who support our efforts. Over the past 20 years, we have become more aggressive in taking the initiative to seek out qualified subcontractors and vendors particularly among minority and women-owned businesses as well as other companies considered economically disadvantaged.

In several instances, we have entered into a mentor protégé program with minority and women owned firms to help support and develop these firms while we are working together. More recently we are proud to have formalized a joint venture effort with a minority firm who specializes in roofing services which enhances our company’s self-performing capabilities.

Both through our estimating and business development activities, we have taken specific steps to maximize diverse business participation in our projects, and we have an excellent track record of meeting and exceeding subcontracting plan goals.

Examples of Our Diversity Partners:

  • Diversity Resources Group
  • R&A Masonry
  • Dallas Black Contractors Association
  • Dallas Hispanic Contractors Association
  • State of Texas HUB Mentor-Protégé
  • Dallas Association of Women in Construction

“DRG has signed an agreement with Joe Funk Construction Inc. to complete roofing work at the Dallas Independent School District, and throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth Texas area. What is crucial here, says Wayne Lawrence, DRG President, is that Funk had never been in a joint venture with anyone, especially not a minority company. Rusty Norris, JFC President says he was impressed by DRG from the start. At our initial meeting we were all impressed with Lawrence personally as well as with what DRG was attempting to accomplish nationwide…..It is important to us to have a real, capable business partner, not just a minority designation.”
